Backstage at NYFW: Fairy Eyes and Relaxed Hair at Christian Siriano

“Today’s look is all about reflections and how light reflects on different things like gemstones — it’s all about light,” explained Makeup Artist Holly Osmond regarding the inspiration for Christian Siriano‘s Spring 2015 collection. Using MAC Cosmetics, Osmond gave models natural skin and kept it as light as possible by keeping brows sans makeup and using powder only where needed. “Shiny foreheads on the runway are a pet peeve of mine,” added Osmond. Lips were kept nude and cheeks were slightly dusted with a sheer pink. The fun part came when she used a custom-mixed navy blue mascara for the models’ lashes and added holographic sparkles on the lids and lashes for a reflected shine that would only be seen in the light from certain angles.

When it came to hair, “fresh, crisp and feminine” were the words Lead Sebastian Professional Stylist Anthony Cole used to describe the look. It was all about second day hair, and to get the look, Cole prepped hair with Sebastian Professional’s Mousse Forte ($16.95) and styled a continuous pin curl in the front section of the hair, set it with a flat iron, sprayed it with Shaper Zero Gravity ($16.95) while it was still hot and then brushed it out with a Mason Pearson hairbrush ($120) for a kinky, soft wave.
