Yesterday, the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture issued a press release stating that Versace is back on the official couture calendar this January, taking the first time slot on the first day, January 23. The brand has been presenting their couture in more low-key presentations with sittings editors only since the last time they were part of the official calendar in January 2004.
Forum members were thrilled by this new development. “I can't wait to see the first Versace Haute Couture runway show in eight years,” Melancholybaby cheered.
Whatever the reason, thejarc is excited about the prospect of an Atelier Versace Haute Couture runway show. “I hope you all remember the Atelier Versace shows they used to do before they went bankrupt? Those were F-ING AWESOME. A lesson in how to do tackiness the right way,” he asserted. “I am happy they will return to this and just hope they edit out the gimmicky dresses and bring it back to what it was,” he continued. “Versace is definitely stepping up the game. Couture, an H&M collection, opening up the archives for Lady Gaga earlier this year. I just hope there will be more of this.”
Low-key doesn’t really mesh with Versace, so it’s definitely good news that they’ll be able to once again indulge in a big, lavish, glitzy couture presentation after such a long hiatus. Whether they present something tacky and terrible or sexy and fantastic the Atelier Versace show will likely be something to remember. Donatella’s going to want to come back with a bang, don’t you think?
