After much anticipation in the Cover Rumor Thread in the forums, Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o has landed herself her first cover of Vogue. Photographed by Mikael Jansson (his first Vogue cover shoot too!) and styled by Phyllis Posnick, Lupita is showcasing Prada's Fall 2014 collection on the front of the issue.
Surprisingly, forum members are on the fence regarding the finished result. "Yes! I am thrilled to see Lupita on the cover; she looks absolutely radiant smiling! The cover story is just as gorgeous," commented Nepenthes, clearly in favor of the shoot.
"What a gorgeous cover. She looks fantastic (better than ever in print) and the photography is just great and the dress looks perfectly styled on her. I'm sold." enthused jmrmartinho.
GlamorousBoy shared the same sentiments: "The best US Vogue cover in months!"
Not everyone has the same outlook, however. "The cover just looks like it was fan made! If the background wasn't blurred it would be fantastic because she looks gorgeous. The spread has such nice shots, amazing to see Jansson score his first US Vogue cover, don't understand why she is on the cover already, but whatever, love her," wrote Miss Dalloway.
Eneroenero wasn't feeling the cover either and wrote, "Horrible! Lupita is so modern and the cover is nothing, what is this attitude?"
