FKA twigs, Sam Smith and Others Star on V Magazine’s Spring Preview Issue (Forum Buzz)

V Magazine tapped a handful of the music industry’s hottest individuals for its Spring Preview issue. FKA twigs (whose cover is pictured below), Sam Smith, Tinashe and Jessie Ware were each shot separately by Dutch photographic duo Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin for a set of classic, studio-captured portrait images that do each of the artists justice. Styled by Mel Ottenberg and Karen Clarkson, we cannot get enough of each of the four covers. Kudos to V Magazine!

But our forum members are asking whether or not FKA twigs deserves a cover! “Not a fan of Twigs. I find her to be extremely overrated, and people are only using her because of Robert Pattinson. I mean she’s a pretty girl, but a fairly average model IMO,” posted LoveKatFashion.

“No such thing, FKA twigs has been a fashion favorite before she started dating Robert Pattinson, you need to have a look at her archive. i-D, etc.,” responded TeeVanity.

Also coming to her defense was phatcatcan: “Please do explain how she’s overrated? I’m sure you didn’t know about her until she started dating R-Patz. I say you Google her pre-Pattinson and then give your two cents. Oh and IMO, she might not be a model, but she sure is one of the most original, talented, creative artists, vocalists, performers there is in the industry right now.”

“The average person didn’t know who she was before Pattinson, come on! How can you deny it? Even she’s asked about him in almost all new interviews. That being said, there’s no denying that she’s talented and she had a career before Rob,” added kokobombon, firing back.

Yet FKA twigs’ cover isn’t all we’ve been discussing. “Wow! Sam Smith looks like a young George Michael!” raved Lola701.

“He reminds me of a young Boy George, too, I always say that. I like his cover the most of the three,” noted TeeVanity.
