There’s no denying that Steven Meisel has been delivering an array of fantastic imagery this month. First he wowed us with a wonderful cover story for Vogue Italia and now his new campaign for Valentino has just been declared a success by forum members. After using a range of photographers for previous seasons, Valentino finally decided to commission the legendary Meisel to capture its Fall 2016 advertising campaign and the move has paid off big time. Models Jamie Bochert, Karen Elson, Julia Nobis and Katlin Aas come together and strike some dynamic poses inspired by contemporary dance.
The campaign was an instant hit. “Epic ! I got goosebumps when I read the thread title. With this casting they couldn’t have [gone] wrong. Well done!” exclaimed an elated kewkaw the moment the campaign dropped.
“FINALLY some fashion!” hailed a fashion-deprived maxlinden.
Equally impressed with the outcome was TaylorBinque: “This is fabulous. As much as their clothes are beautifully boring, I have to admit that they are constantly pushing their campaigns and it’s wonderful to see them trying to do something new with their campaign every season. Looking from the casting, this just screams Meisel.”
Kokobombon felt the same way, enthusing, “I love the cinematic feel, it’s very dramatic. I can’t find fault in this! Seems like Valentino’s campaigns keep getting better and better. I always know I’m not going to be disappointed opening the thread.”
“This is one of the best campaigns I have seen in a very very long time from any brand. They may not be able to do much at Valentino I find exciting but they know how to execute some wonderful campaigns. I love the mood, the movement, composition, colors, and most of the cast,” raved VogueDisciple923.
Sharing the same sentiments was Wolkfolk, exclaiming, “Let’s bring fashion back! The composition is exceptional, the casting is fantastic, the clothes are perfectly showcased without being in your face. There’s a narrative, the photography and art direction are flawless. This is simply beyond!”
