A little birdie told WWD that H&M was joining forces with Maison Martin Margiela. This might seem like a prestigious coup for the fast fashion retailer, but even though the brand still carries the legacy of its auteur-ish founder, Martin Margiela, the avant-garde designer left his eponymous label in 2009, and collections are designed by an in-house team. Morever, MMM is a subsidiary of the Diesel group, which seems like a natural business partner for H&M.
Still, the Swedish retailer refused to confirm the the collaboration — “We never comment on rumors.”
[Update 6/12: Earlier this morning, H&M sent out a press release announcing their collaboration with MMM. The capsule collection will launch at H&M stores worldwide and online on November 15, 2012.]
