Yesterday, the "Sh*t Fashion Girls Say" web series marked the end of fashion week with a new NYFW-focused installment. Like its predecessors, the clip lampooned the self-seriousness and frivolity which makes fashion girls 1) extremely ridiculous, 2) extremely annoying, 3) kind of enviable.
But what do fashion girls actually talk about at the shows? Below, some unedited excerpts from conversations I overheard:
"I don't have a lot of followers."
"I love him. I've known him for so many years. He's so talented."
"Why aren't they letting us in?"
"The people that are the most done up are typically the ones doing the least interesting things."
"My head's like, always in 18 different places."
"I don't find shopping that exciting in the US."
"Do we want a Diet Pepsi?"
"The cameras are going to be a problem. Get 'em out of here!"
"Wait, let me take a picture."
(She sees me watching her in the bathroom mirror): "I'm still alive. I saw myself so I know."
"Wait, how do I get to my Twitter to show you the picture?"
"That's like doing coke for three days straight. You're going to be tired, depressed, and it's going to take a week to get it out of your system."
"I spotted your purse, I was like – no one else has that bag!"
"I was kind of pissed off my photographer wasn't coming."
"You're not ready to be a mother to a twentysomething."
"Listen, a twentysomething is no different than my five-year-old."
"We're all going to get old at some point."
