Carine Roitfeld is definitely, definitely coming out with her own fashion magazine in September, and she's teasing it by sharing some mock-ups with the world.
The former Vogue Paris editor knows her way around a fashion spread, so it should come as no surprise that the test images are quality. There's actually quite a bit to look forward to: the magazine will exclusively feature longform articles (front-of-the-book pieces will only be available online), Roitfeld plans to work with both established and emerging photographers, and publish non-English language contributions, with translations included in the back of the book.
But for all of her good choices, Roitfeld made a big bad decision: the title, CR. Not only is the title not catchy, it's also obvious. "The name’s not a big surprise, but oh well,” Roitfeld told WWD. Another problem: the handwritten logo is very bridal mag, and as much as Carine might love herself, I would have thought her sense of dignity could have intercepted this level of cheese.
