Emma Watson is going green. The actress is taking part in Livia Firth’s Green Carpet Challenge this September as she promotes her film Regression. Watson kicked things off by regramming images from her stylist Sarah Slutsky, detailing their new commitment to ethical clothing.
Television junket continues! Love this chic little @Erdemlondon dress created from fabrics sourced in Italy and produced in Portugal! The suppliers and producers of these bad-ass boots by @Alexawagnershoes are located in Milan. Alexa Wagner is proud of their quality control systems, the excellent workspace and atmosphere provided for their employees. Jewels from @MoniquePean who strives to raise awareness of art, culture and global environmental issues through design, and is committed to partnering with artisans around the world to support traditional craftsmanship. Love this Feminine/Masculin Bag (because traits of both is beautiful!) by @clarevivier who roots herself in the Los Angeles design community, where her line has been made exclusively since 2008. Team on #beauty @charlottehayward @visapyyapy @emmawatson
A quick trip to Slutsky’s Instagram page and you will see a few pictures of Ms. Watson’s outfits accompanied by captions explaining the garments and where they came from. In one image, she highlights an Erdem dress whose fabric was sourced from Italy. In another, Watson is wearing an Edun dress, a brand which Slutsky notes is “building long-term, sustainable growth opportunities by supporting manufacturers, community-based initiatives and partnering with African artists and artisans.”
Second look of the day… A sleek, merino dress by @edun . EDUN is building long-term, sustainable growth opportunities by supporting manufacturers, community-based initiatives and partnering with African artists and artisans. Paired with flats by @paulandrew whose shoes are all handmade in Italy by artisans who have been making shoes for decades, some for generations (love dressing up a flat– comfort is key!). Rings by the family owned @VIERIhautejoaillerie ! VIERI believes that responsible behavior and luxury are inseparably linked, and that this relationship helps to define the new vision of luxury. Every piece is made with respect for people and the environment, and has maximum impact on the well-being of people who experience it. Earrings by @jfisherjewelry manufactured in NYC with all conflict free stones. Handbag by @lautemshop — Lautem is obsessed with excellence in Design, Production and Ethics in Business Management. Lautem believes that haste is the enemy of excellence. That is the reason why they committed themselves to the production of beautiful objects made to last. Of course @charlottehayward and @visapyyapy on beauty!
The project helps heighten awareness of exactly where this luxury clothing is coming from and also highlights the effect fashion has globally. The economies the fashion industry supports (for better or for worse) are numerous and it puts into perspective that sustainable fashion is important to all of us – no matter where we come from.
We will definitely be watching to see what other outfits Slutsky dreams up for Watson as she carries on with her press tour.
