Kylie Minogue Channels Mrs Claus in Christmas-Inspired Dolce & Gabbana

Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue stepped out for Claridge’s Hotel and Dolce & Gabbana’s annual Christmas Tree party in London on Wednesday, November 19, looking like Santa Claus’ better half in a red-and-white themed outfit.

The Australian pop star was channelling winter wonderland vibes in a floral-embroidered crochet dress by Dolce & Gabbana, complete with ruby-and-gold drop earrings, a red-silk rectangle clutch and red-patent pointed-toe bow heels. She was matching right down to the finer details like her red nails, but thankfully didn’t overdo it with a red lip too.

With only a matter of weeks until Christmas actually rolls around, Kylie’s got us hoping another Christmas album from our pop princess will grace our holiday playlists once more.

Buckingham Palace Wants American Journalists to Dress Nicely for Kate and William’s US Visit

Is it 2014 or 1774? Because someone needs to explain why Buckingham Palace is trying to tell American journalists how to dress when Prince William and Duchess Kate make their stateside visit on December 7 and 8. According to Politico, the Senate Periodical Press Gallery sent out an email telling members of the press that if they think they’re going to be in the presence of the Royal couple, they’d better come correct in the clothing department.

The email outlines all the dos and don’ts of dressing if you’re meeting the Royals. “Journalists wishing to cover Royal engagements, whether in the United Kingdom or abroad, should comply with the dress code on formal occasions out of respect for the guests of The Queen, or any other member of the Royal Family,” the organization wrote. “Smart attire for men includes the wearing of a jacket and tie, and for women a trouser or skirt suit. Those wearing jeans or trainers will not be admitted and casually dressed members of the media will be turned away. This also applies to technicians.” (more…)

Men Are More Likely to Pay Attention to Women If They’re Wearing High Heels

Men: they like high heels. Also, the wind: did you know it blows sometimes? A new, very crucial and important study done by the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that men pay more attention to women if and when they wear heels, or as they so clinically put it “High Heels Increase Women’s Attractiveness.” Please, tell us more…

Well, the study found that if you’re a woman walking in the street, men are more likely to holla at you and help you if you accidentally drop something than if you’re wearing flats. In a bar, men approached women who were wearing high heels twice as fast as those wearing flats. They’re also most likely to listen to you blather on about feminism. Researchers conducted three different experiments to see how heel height affected the way men reacted to female participants. In one of the experiment, they asked a woman to wear three different pairs of shoes; one flat, one medium ( 5 cm) and one stiletto height (9 cm) and hit the streets to ask men to participate in a survey on gender equality. The higher the woman’s heels were, the more likely men were to answer her questions. In flats, 46.7% of the men complied with the survey and in medium heels, 63.3%. But once the woman threw on her mile-high stilettos, 83.3% of the men she asked agreed to take the survey.

So, is the key to gender equality a matter of throwing on a pair of Christian Louboutin So Kates? Probably not. But at best, it might get a couple guys to actually pay attention when you explain why catcalling isn’t actually a compliment.

H&M Continues Australian Expansion with New Brisbane Stores

Photo: H&M

H&M is dead serious about the Australian market, having just announced two new stores for Brisbane next year. H&M’s got its hungry hands on Brisbane’s Indooroopilly Shopping Centre with a store opening this coming March. It doesn’t stop there, with Brisbane CBD’s 170 Queen Street locked down for late 2015 as well.

The Swedish retail giant has, quite literally, been working its way up in our country, opening its first Aussie store at Melbourne’s GPO as recently as April this year. Sydney’s Macquarie Centre shopfront soon followed in October.

We’re sure Brisbane residents who love affordable fashion will be gearing up for an inevitable in-store trample, but competing Australian retailers mightn’t be so happy. If H&M keep going at this rate consumers could quickly forget about their home-grown favourites.

The Pitch Perfect 2 Trailer Is Finally Here

There is only one place a cappella groups get any love post-college, and that’s in Hollywood. Just ask any of the cast members of Glee, or better yet, Pitch Perfect, which became an instant cult classic when it was released in 2012. The movie was so popular, that they’re rounding up Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Brittany Snow and Adam DeVine for the sequel, which is due to hit theaters in May of next year.

We can hardly wait. And to hold us over until spring (it seems so, so far away), the trailer for the film has just been released and it is as great as we thought it would be. This time around, the Bellas are going up against some of the best singers in the world to win an international a cappella title – something an American team has never won.

There are hot singing studs, snotty Europeans who speak eight languages (but not the one called “loser”), fart noises and the Green Bay Packers. Yup – the team’s offensive line makes an appearance in the film as a very buff group of male a cappella singers. And yes, you do get the chance to see their bulging muscles. Thank you, director Elizabeth Banks.

Watch the trailer above and get psyched for this Spring, when the movie hits theaters.
