Sometimes it’s the little touches that take your outfit from average to enviable. Celebrities have stylists to calculate all the complicated nuances of putting together a look, but we aren’t all so fortunate. Luckily, tFS has put together some celeb-inspired styling tips and tricks to help you put together a look that’s got that extra oomph! Stars flocked to Salt Lake City for the Sundance Film Festival this week, scarves, boots, and jackets stacked up as fast as awards. Don’t let your style get lost under your winter layers—let Taylor Swift, Emma Roberts, and Elizabeth Olsen show you how to bundle up.
Tip #1: Layer a pop of color under dark outerwear
With her jacket zipped up, Emma Roberts’ look at the Sundance Film Festival would’ve been as blah as the weather. The way she layered her bright red Kova & T button-down under her throwback puffer jacket with a fur-trimmed hood, though, was like a ray of sunshine coming out from behind the clouds. Her Kenneth Cole Reaction lace-up boots completed the ensemble’s winter-in-thecity feel.

Tip #2: Deflect the weather with leather leggings
Elizabeth Olsen fought soggy leg syndrome in chic waterproof leggings in Salt Lake City for the Sundance Film Festival. What caught my eye about this look was the way she tucked her leggings into her round-toe leather boots—the shoes matched the texture of her pants so well I had to zoom in to figure out whether she was wearing leggings with feet attached (when will they come out with those?). She added easy accessories like a knit cap, multi-layered scarf, and satchel in muted autumnal colors, and kept warm with a black trench (and the ultimate winter accessory, a warm).

Tip #3: A well-chosen umbrella can be a statement piece
You might feel like when it comes to umbrellas there are two choices, black or a novelty print that seems cute when you buy it and then is impossible to integrate into an outfit. When Taylor Swift visited the Diana Memorial in London recently, she looked both appropriately somber and stylish to honor the late princess, choosing a cocoa brown umbrella that paired with her Ralph Lauren Pony Hair saddle bag. The cat print on her Nw3 Annabel dress added a whimsical touch to the look. The adorable dress has since sold out of most stores, but we found a chic (and cheap) kitten print alternative!
