Though it is being widely reported that the beauty industry is currently in an unprecedented slump due to the economic downturn, Dolce and Gabbana’s Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce are as optimistic as ever as they get ready to launch their new D&G Fragrance ‘Anthology’.
Instead of developing separate fragrances for women and men, the new D&G fragrance collection will feature five non-gender specific scents, and is slated to generate as much as $400 million in retail sales in their first year when they launch in the Fall of 2009.
Each of the fragrances will be represented by a different model – including supermodels Naomi Campbell, Claudia Schiffer, and Eva Herzigova – who will each be shot, naked, by famed photographer Mario Testino. Further, each scent will be named after a tarot card. For example, Naomi Campbell will be the face of “The Empress,” while Claudia Schiffer will be “The Moon.”
