Handcrafted in New York City from fine silk, cotton and jersey, Kristian Giambi’s Brulee line has quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the most sought-after contemporary lingerie brands. The ever-expanding line now includes camisoles, bodysuits, teddies, bralettes, and more.
The Fashion Spot: Was there ever a point in your life when you were struggling in your career, where you had the opportunity to do another job that was more stabile and safe, but you decided to stick with your passion? What made you stay with it?
Kristian Giambi: At times this industry (like any) can have ups and downs, which will make you question yourself. Then something wonderful happens, like a new idea for a collection or a boutique picks up your line and then that feeling is met with conviction.
I believe it is important to not dwell on doubts, but rather, focus on what it is you want to create for yourself. Having that perspective is what keeps me moving forward and inspired.
tFS: Was there a defining moment when you knew this career is what you had to do with your life? KG: That moment for me was my first season.
I had been working so much on product development. When I saw my first collection completed with all the branding, I just knew. Seeing every thought and vision come to life and translated in front of me was amazing. I enjoy that moment of accomplishment every time. Then we start all over again for the next season!
tFS: Was there a time in your life where you felt like you accomplished what you sought to succeed? When was it, and how has this changed your perspective on your future career goals?
KG: I do not know that I will ever feel as though I have accomplished what I sought out. As my business continues to grow, that goal is constantly changing.
I feel like it is always a work in progress – however I am very pleased with the direction I’ve been going in.
