Rihanna’s a rule breaker, a killer songstress, and… a talent scout? The Barbadian's interest in fashion is spreading beyond her extravagant wardrobe as she’s teamed up with Sky Living HD for a “hugely ambitious” fashion series. The singer has paired up with former Girls Aloud member, and creator of the Dainty Doll makeup line, Nicola Roberts, to front the as of yet untitled show though Rihanna, acting as executive producer, with have a hand in casting and post-production.
Touted as the search for Britain’s most promising new fashion designer, the 10-week show will see contestants put through their paces designing looks for musicians and celebrities alike. It looks to highlight the relationship between pop stars and designers and while the premise may be loose, there’s no doubt designers will be tripping over themselves to design for Rihanna’s celebrity friends sure to make appearances. In an interview with Sky Living, Roberts said “I was so flattered when Rihanna asked me to work with her on this show. I'm so excited for us to get started on finding a new up-and-coming British designer who just needs a chance — a little bit of help in getting their skills noticed.”
The final challenge will see the remaining designers create one-of-a-kind stage looks for Rihanna’s Wireless performance in Hyde Park in July of 2012. "I have been very fortunate to work with some truly amazing designers and stylists throughout my career, and they have been instrumental in making sure my creative vision reaches the stage,” said Rihanna to Sky Living. “I am excited to follow the journey of our aspiring contestants and see how their individuality influences their efforts during the course of the show."
