Among other things, Thakoon Panichgul was inspired by old movies, particularly those set on the Upper East Side where “women get dressed up to go grocery shopping,” for this season’s collection. One thing’s for sure, if the average UES woman had a closet full of the clothes seen on the designer’s runway they would most certainly dress up – even to go to the grocery store.
In keeping with his inspiration, silhouettes were kept conservative for the most part, with plenty of Mrs. O-appropriate looks. There was nothing tame about Panichgul’s fantastic color combinations, however, which included fuchsia and bright red fashioned into, most notably, a slew of covetable knee-length cocktail dresses.
One thing's for sure, the collection fit right in at The Plaza where it was shown.
