Taking menswear inspired dress up a notch, Ralph Lauren’s Fall 2012 collection started off with English-style grandfather sweaters, jodhpurs, loose jackets, tweeds, herringbone, plaid, ties, and button down shirts. Animal print was subtly woven into some of the looks and colored gloves provided refreshing pops of color. While the looks were great on the runway, it’s unlikely that very many would opt to wear the man-tailored styles as they were styled; taken apart, however, there was much in the way of wearable closet staples.
After the menswear-inspired interlude, the show progressed into classic glamour. Eveningwear was particularly strong this season notably the two slinky floor length long sleeved black gowns that closed out the show. Jeweled golden collars, gold-painted ostrich feathers, satin gowns, and bright fur popped up along the way.
