Yves Saint Laurent Fall 2012 Runway Review

Isn’t it ironic that Stefano Pilati’s last season at Yves Saint Laurent would arguably be the designer’s best collection since taking over for Tom Ford seven years ago? Original YSL muse Catherine Deneuve, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, and even Nicolas Ghesquiere turned out to support the man behind the omnipresent Tribute shoes and Downtown and Muse bags as he left the house on a high note.

A dark palette with sharp cuts, the collection boasted killer leather-accented outerwear and blazers (with lapels recalling Le Smoking) while cinched-at-the-waist leather tops and pleated trousers looked surprisingly fluid. Classic, but sexy, the collection even included chainmail dresses to bring home this season's tough-luxe message.
