It's probably best that Meadham Kirchoff shows on the last day of LFW, considering their penchant for the dramatic, because it wouldn't be fair to make other designers compete. This season's fanciful affair was shown around a series of parlours set up on the catwalk and, as usual, the collection is difficult to quantify. With references ranging from Minnie Mouse to Little Bo Peep, Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff certainly sated their eager fans. Where the pair have succeeded against all odds is in winning over the critical international crowd.
London is filled with designers that have McQueen or Pugh dreams but lack the talent to back it up. Meadham and Kirchhoff not only have the talent, but the critical eyes to make it as conceptual desigers. Give these boys a big investor and a blank ticket and we're sure to see great things from them in the future. Consider that at this early stage in the brand's life they're already producing near-couture level work every season, imagine what they could do with the resources to develop and sustain their brand. We're all waiting with bated breath to see what comes next.
