There is always something so serene and organic about Issey Miyake’s collections, and this season the Dai Fujiwara-designed collection was no different.
There was a wonderful architectural feel to a number of the pieces – especially the delicately sculpted gowns the designer showed at the end.
Fujiwara noted that he was inspired by karate pleats and to hammer that message home, identical twins in red and gray cropped pants and jackets performed karate kicks at the beginning, middle and end of the show.
The kicks were a great way for the designer to show off the fabric research that went into the collection to make each of the garments move – or not – as was appropriate.
