News & Runway

TREND: NEUTRALS

Soft muted colors including greys, nudes, and pinkish flesh tones are prominent for next season. They were seen all over designers’ Spring 2010 runways in soft jerseys and constructed knits. Slinky evening wear in asymmetrical lines, chiffon blouses paired with silk skirts, and constructed day dresses with interesting design details were the most popular.

A nod to luxury and refinement with modern silhouettes, these looks were different from those seen these past few seasons. It’s a turn from the hard edge, gothic pieces covered in studs for 2009. Feminine and beautiful, these color palettes and lighter fabrications show a softer look for women who may have needed a little extra armor recently.

Draping and silk jersey, Donna Karan gets it right time after time with a nude, asymmetrical evening gown.

Cool and collected, Rachel Roy keeps it short and modern with a long sleeve jersey cocktail dress.

Marc Jacobs offers a fashion forward jumpsuit with cool ruffles and a harem pant fit.

Simple can be great, as Behnaz Sarafpour shows through a blouse with a column skirt in two slightly different nude tones.

Ladies will love to lunch in this Narcisco Rodriguez day dress in a khaki knit.

Keep it light next season both in color and in fabric. Those leather jackets with metal details need a break!
