Runway News

I’m all about reality TV – from Bravo’s The Rachel Zoe Project to VH1’s Tough Love and MTV’s The Jersey Shore, pretty much everything I watch these days (as sad as it might be) is some form of reality television. However, I have never understood the mass appeal of Tyra Banks’ long running show America’s Next Top Model.  Not only are the cast members predictable, aggravating to watch, and uninspiring, but for the most part they don’t stand even the slightest chance of actually succeeding in the modeling world. Nevertheless, the show seems to be perennially popular, as evidenced by its long-standing, relatively high ratings. Next season, however, when the show moves to New Zealand, I may be tuning in to watch – at least for the judging portion. It is being reported that Vogue editor at large AndrĂ© Leon Talley will be the show’s newest full-time judge.

Talley’s over the top personality was made for reality TV, and I can only imagine the comedy that will result from seeing him mesh and deliberate with diva extraordinaires Miss J and Tyra Banks. And, speaking of divas, Kimora Lee Simmons – who at one point had a reality show of her own – is reportedly slated to be a guest judge on the upcoming season.
