From an interview with Dazed Digital, which went up yesterday:
When I cast models I love to show a variety of women. Beautiful sexy women with curves, ethnic women, androgynous women. I don’t want to have just one specific image of a woman in my shows, I want to present what really exists. And the same for men. I also like to show attitude.
And here's Gaultier responding (via open letter) to a critic who disparaged one of the designer's casting decisions: "I always had girls in my shows from different social strata, treating someone as down-market is cheap."
