The Inspiration: "I wanted to play with more opulent, quite traditional colors but do them in a modern way in modern textures and modern silhouettes," the designer told Reuters.
The Look: Richard Nicoll kept things sporty and casual for Fall 2014, but maintained a polished aesthetic with clean-lined and mostly fitted silhouettes (the exception were his mannishly tailored pant suits). The designer’s best pieces were his fur-collared outerwear (particularly the opening bomber), textured knit sweaters, contrasting pleated origami-detailed separates and ruffled tops. For those looking for something less sporty, the designer had boxy fur sweaters and fur skirts.
The Accessories: Pointed, lace-up rubber soled flats.
The Beauty: Faces and lips were muted, while a soft metallic eye was created. Hair was casually pulled back with a center part.
The Takeaway: Perhaps not the most memorable collection, but a wearable and very sellable one.
