HENRI BENDEL GETS BLINGED OUT

One of the cheeriest places to shop around the holidays is, perhaps surprisingly, Henri Bendel. Come the holiday season, the Fifth Avenue emporium always has a front entrance decked with candy (from Ralph Lauren daughter’s posh Dylan’s Candy Bar, of course), flashy, colorful ornaments, and more bling bling jewelry, head accessories, and handbags that even a Paris Hilton wannabe would know what to do with (and as you might imagine, post-Christmas most of those items are offered at very steep discounts).

Though the iconic multi-level shop has gone through some highs and lows in the recent year – including a bold move from carrying clothing on their upper floors to only stocking accessories and gifts – they’re certainly not letting their struggles show, and have just teamed with Crystallized-Swarovski Elements to create a flashy co-branded accessories collection.

Crystallized is a relatively new Swarovski concept (they recently opened a Soho shop and cafĂ©) where you can go and choose from a very wide variety of crystals sold by the piece, along with an assortment of designer Swarovski jewelry collaborations to bling-out anything you like DIY style. Ed Bucciarelli, president and chief executive officer of Bendel’s, dutifully remarked when asked about the reasoning behind the collaboration that the Bendel girl “loves bling and shine and shimmer.”

To satisfy that penchant, 100 items have been covered in crystals – including a bottle stopper, a dog collar, Deos ear buds, a variety of handbags, a cocktail debutante ring, and a compact. All items are now for sale at 10 Bendel’s around the U.S. (including the flagship NYC store).
