It may be scorching in the Big Apple this week, but can you imagine Palm Springs? That’s what designer Tess Giberson had on her mind this season when she crafted a resort-worthy collection that had us hankering for a poolside caipirinha. We popped backstage for a quick one-on-one.

theFashionSpot: What’s new with you?

Tess Giberson: That’s a loaded one! I’m just trying to focus on the moment when it all comes together at the show instead of saying, “Oh, I just want this to be over.”

tFS: What’s the first thing you thought of when you woke up this morning?

TG: Coffee. I couldn’t get it fast enough.

tFS: What’s your mood right now?

TG: A little jittery.

tFS: What inspired you this season?

TG: I was flipping through a book that had backyard pool images in 70s Palm Springs. I was really intrigued by the contrast of the artificiality and the natural. I didn’t want to reference the 70s, just capture the essence of it.

tFS: Who would be in your dream front row?

TG: It sounds silly, but there isn’t a particular person. I like an eclectic mix of genuinely cool people who want to be there.
