The 51st annual Grammy Awards, a show where the stars typically let down their guard a bit and make more risky fashion choices, took place on February 9th . This year, when it came to the fashion choices, it was no different.
Gwyneth Paltrow opted for a sparkling Versace mini dress paired with Chopard jewels, gray tights, and a gray shawl.
Katy Perry wore a strapless gown with carefully crafted origami detailing in the waist-region, by Lebanese designer Basil Soda and jewelry from Neil Lane and Jacob & Co.
Another lady who went with origami detailing was Jennifer Hudson. Up for four awards, Hudson’s cocktail, colorblocked, high collar look was from RM by Roland Mouret. Surprisingly though despite Roland Mouret’s pieces usually being worn by women with less shapely figures – notably Victoria Beckham – Hudson’s dress complements her figure very well.
Kate Beckinsale showed-up in a long, black Reem Acra gown which she paired with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. This season more than ever Reem Acra seems to be all over the red carpet with stars from Beyonce to Christina Appelgate showing-up in the designer’s gowns.
Sheryl Crow wore a blue Toni Maticevski gown that showed-off her toned body. The gown had a watercolor quality to it, very reminiscent of Christian Cota’s Spring/ Summer 2009 collection.
Also of note was Zooey Deschanel who went for a lavender dress with sheer detailing as well. The fittingly off-beat choice had a flower accent and a patterned bottom.
