Does Taylor Swift Deserve the Cover of Vogue’s Met Gala Special Edition? (Forum Buzz)

If you haven’t already seen (or even recognized, for that matter) a platinum blond Taylor Swift on the cover of Vogue‘s May 2016 issue, you’re also about to see her on the front of the magazine’s Met Gala Special Edition 2016 issue. Wearing a custom cut-out Louis Vuitton dress (no doubt chosen by Anna Wintour) and following in the footsteps of Rihanna and Beyoncé, the Met Gala co-chair was captured at the event by photographer Theo Wenner for the cover, which has caused quite the stir on our forums.

Members of our forums weren’t thrilled with the magazine’s choice. “Was she really the best dressed of that night!? And two covers for her? Same theme? Nah,” MON disapproved immediately.

Forum member tigerrouge thought the two covers looked similar: “Even more of an eyesore than her current Vogue cover.”

“Looks like an outtake from her actual May cover shoot…which I imagine is intentional,” said Kite.

“Anna Wintour helped her pick the dress. How can she not be ‘best dressed’ in U.S. Vogue?” asked WilliamsLe010919.

Also left underwhelmed by Vogue‘s choice was SpeakThatJDunn, ranting, “Hideous. Such a step down from last year’s iconic cover. They didn’t even put Claire Danes’ name on the cover, when she was the most talked about?! She should have been the cover star!”

“She was hardly the best dressed that night and this cover is scary. Personally I think this looks too harsh for her and very unflattering. But it doesn’t really matter since U.S. Vogue‘s Special Editions are typically throwaways,” justaguy shared.

“The tragic part is that the general public is going to think that Taylor really was the best dressed and she’s some sort of fashion icon because Vogue said it,” chimed in Scotty.
