Central Saint Martins Course Director Louise Wilson Dies

Sad news in the fashion industry this weekend, as Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design course director Louise Wilson passed away at the age of 52 early Saturday morning. Wilson served in the position for over 20 years, working to nurture the success of some of the industry's greatest talents like Alexander McQueen, Simone Rocha, Roksanda Ilincic, Jonathan SaundersChristopher Kane and more. She also served as the creative director for Donna Karan from 1997-2002.

Wilson was known for her sharp tongue and realness, as well as her eye for spotting talent. “She has taught a huge proportion of the world’s leading fashion designers and her course continues to produce talented, ground-breaking graduates,” Central Saint Martins said in a statement. “Her commitment to her students and passion for creative excellence are legendary. Her deep understanding of fashion and her drive for funding for bursaries, facilities and opportunities are part of what made her such an extraordinary educator.”

Her cause of death has yet to be revealed, but reports say that she died in her sleep at her sister's home in Scotland.
